Although not my typical narrative works, Black Watch and Spring Watch are intimate portraits of the two breeds for which I am best known. Small images, they are sized between the Collector Editions and the Just Dogs portraits. Both dogs are looking directly out of their respective pictures, a trick I have started to use in an attempt to help the viewer make an immediate connection with the subject
