Latin Spirit illustrates the Brown and Orange Roan forms of this wonderful breed. I first came across the Italian Spinone in the early nineteen-nineties when a neighbour and friend acquired a Brown Roan. I was, from the start, struck by what I could only term the breed's nobility. I feel that they have an almost regal quality and I've tried to capture something of that in my portrait.
Although it is believed that the origins of the modern dog are the Piedmont and Alba regions of Italy, I have chosen, as a setting, scenery that is typical of Tuscany and Umbria. Olive trees, steep wooded valleys and hill-top towns and villages.
